Electric Powered Landscaping Tools for 2022

Electric powered lawn and yard tools are lighter and quieter than their gas-powered counterparts.

Research shows that electric equipment will cost less over the life of the tool, and is better for the environment. The obvious advantage is that you eliminate fuel costs, but you also eliminate the preventative maintenance and repair cost that is associated with a combustion engine.

At Renaissance Landscapes, our livelihood is derived from the very land we care for, so our goal is to ensure we tread lightly. As electric powered tools have made strides in efficiency, we have been making the switch to ensure we’re leading the way in green powered landscaping services.

The obvious advantages to our clients are:

  • Less disruptive: Electric tools have a lower decibel rating than 2 or 4 stroke motors.
  • No emissions: No gas means no fumes!
  • Eliminate risk of damage: No change of oil or gas spills on plants or driveways.
  • Guaranteed uptime: no flooded motors or refueling.

As fuel prices continue to soar and staffing issues prevail, we need to find ways to keep costs under control. Cost control and reliability are a huge reason for our transition to electric lithium-ion battery-operated mowers and lawn equipment. Hauling fuel to site after site and the chance of a breakdown are ongoing concerns when running a gas-powered fleet.

Beyond the obvious there are additional perks to going green. These machines stack up real nice for storage and only take up about a third of the space that a regular mower does. Safety is less of a concern because they have no fuel or oil to worry about spills with either.

Bringing the Power

All of our electric tools are battery operated and will arrive onsite fully charged.

Currently, our electric powered fleet consists of:

  • electric mowers
  • electric-line trimmers
  • electric blower
  • backup batteries
We are working to outfit our site trailer with solar panels for the 2022 season and plan to document our process and expenses. Over the next 5 years it is our goal to be completely electric powered, phasing out the last of our gas-powered ride-on mowers as soon as they reach a natural end to their life cycle. We take care of our equipment, which means it lasts and achieving maximum hours from all of our equipment is the right thing to do. For our company, for our clients, and for the environment.

Not only are they quieter than their gas-powered counterparts, but they are also :
  • lighter which reduces operatior fatigue
  • Cheaper to operate/maintain
  • Fume Free

The real advantage to “going green” can be seen when day after day the mowers always start, no one ever breaks a rip cord, no running out for a new air filter.
